English Assignment#14. The Stolen Generation

The Stolen Generation refers to the children who were taken away from their families from the period of time Torres Strait Men started governing Australia. It happened approximately from 1869-1969. Documents shows that the Aborigines Protection Act started out because of the number of mix descent children that were born during the contruction of the Ghan railway, stating that this children were abandoned and that they are trying to protect this children.
Later, it was also documented that the removal of Half Caste kids is related to a different belief. The Torres Straits Islander that were ruling Australia wanted to fit those children into the white's society by bringing them up in instituitions run by Missionaries or Goverment agency. They had an idea of maintaining a pure racial white society and that the aboroginal population would die out after contact with the White Society and the aboroginal population is unable to sustain themselves.
In my opinion it is cruel for the white men to be taking away a child away from his mother just because of their ideology of having a racially pure white australia. And by doing so, it's a form of racism because they kept refering to them as the Black Culture when Aboroginals and Africans are two different people and culture.
They were also being rude because the Aboroginals are the natives of Australia, a land which they occupied not owned. So they do not have the rights to remove the half caste kids from their parents.
